Assignment 1

ochoa8a- REDO of Assignment 3

Kyle Rogers – Assignment 1

This picture was taken at my house of a potato vine plant which grows along my fence. My first step in editing was to convert the image to black and white using a color mixture adjustment. I started there because I felt like the color of the image was distracting and by converting it to black and white, it added to the depth of the image as well as allowing the eye to rest easier on it. Secondary adjustments included levels and curves to play with which areas of the photo were to be focused on and which were darkened to fall into the background.

Travis Chapman Assignment 1

The first thing I did with this image was some pre-editing at picnik.com.  I then went on to Photoshop and there I cropped, and used clone stamp to remove the boat.  Also, I used new layers to change levels, saturation, curves, and photo filters.  I feel that my images enhancements really made a huge difference and made it look much better.

Sam Albert – Assignment 1

My best picture ended up being one I took over the weekend with my friend, and I thought I might be able to bring out the colors we tried to capture with the camera, through photoshop.

I first started by creating a new layer to do some retouching on, then used the clone stamp tool to edit out any facial blemishes.

Next, I created a histogram to mainly bring out the white in the picture and emphasize the darker areas.

Then, I set up a curves layer to bring the washed out areas into focus and make the hair and skin a bit warmer and darker.

After that came the channel mixer to make the colors pop. I used this mainly to really bring attention to the paint on her face and have the tan a bit more golden.

Next, I made another curves layer, and using the smart lasso tool, i outlined the teeth and brightened the area to make them seem whiter.

Finally, I used one last layer to use the dodge and burn tool on to whiten the whites of the eyes and the rest of the teeth.

OCHOA8A- Assignment 1

The image was adjusted using Photo shop
    - I started by adjusting the brightness & contrast of the image by raising
       both levels
    - I latter chose to raise the saturation level aswell so it could intensify the
      colors in the image

Assignment 1- Emily Grace

Shacks, After Editing

First, I straightened and cropped the original in order to exclude the parts of the picture that detracted from the image as a whole. Next, I played around with the channel mixer and decided that the photo looked best in black and white. I used the dodge tool to bring out the wood siding and other particularly rustic parts of the shacks. Changing the curves brought out some of the darker areas so their details were distinguishable. Also by adjusting curves, I was able to make the lightest areas less glaring.

Assignment #1 Kathryn Baldree

With this photo I used photoshop to alter the following aspects:

- I first adjusted the Levels bringing in both the light and the dark.

- I then adjusted the contrast and brightness, allowing the image to become sharper.

- Next I adjusted the curves, giving the picture more strength in its darks and lights.

- Finally I adjusted the color using the Channel Mixer, giving the picture a higher color and bringing out the color of the barrel in comparison to the stone wall.

Assignment 1 Dexter Sitjar

The changes include:

Cropping – mainly because the concrete below is quite blurry and the focus would seem to be best at the ball as well as the leaves on one of those invisible lines.

Exposure – is moved back due to the picture being rather white.

Saturation and Temperature – is moved up to bring out the bright colors of the leaves as well as the subtle colors of the ball and concrete.

Sharpness and Clarity – both are brought up to sharpen the leaves and highlight the tail end of the leaves.

Other notes – it’s interesting how the color of the concrete on the wall and on the ground appear so different but in reality they are exactly the same if you are looking at it for yourself.

Get The Dirt

The photo that I took underwent a dramatic change. When first photographed it was overexposed and washed out. There was no intensity in the photo and very little detail. With the help of some of the techniques we learned in class i was able to make this picture pop and be more memorable. The first thing I did was to crop it and rotate it a little so it wasn’t as crooked. Next I changed the levels in it to make the blacks in the photo blacker. The whites were already pretty white because it was overexposed. Next, I worked with the curves so give the photo a more edgy feel and bring out the rusty red color of the dumpster. Lastly, I did a great deal with the ”burn” tool so that the bright white lettering was not as bright and had more depth and complexity to it as seen in person. my final edited product came out just as I imagined; having a very “urban decay”, dramatic feel.

alex’s first assignment

This photo is of a lock found on an old water shed located on an empty lot behind my house. The settings were iso at 100, Fstop at f/4, and exposure at 1/100 sec. Using Photoshop, I used the channel mixer to make the colors stand out and used curves to enhance the blacks and whites. Hope you like it.
