  1. To create a new layer, click on the new layer icon at the bottom of the layers window. You can give it a name by double-clicking the layer name which will bring up the Layer Options dialog box.[premium content]
  2. You can also set the color of a given layer using the Layer Options dialog box and double clicking the color swatch or by selecting a predefined color from the color list.
  3. To show or hide all of the objects on a layer, simply click on the eye next to the layer name (shown below as a red rectangle). To lock a layer, click in the box next to the eye (a padlock will appear).
  4. To move objects from one layer to another, select the object and drag the small square representing the object in the layer window (shown below as a red circle) to a different layer.[premium content]
