“Using Transparency in InDesign”

  1. Begin with a new InDesign document. (File>New Document…)
  2. You will need to draw a series of frames (using one of the frame tools) or objects (using the pen tool).
  3. Place images (or text) into the frames.
  4. Select the frame you would like to make transparent and open the effects window (Window>Effects…)ID_Opacity
  5. Now adjust the opacity of the object to give it transparency.
  6. You can also add a transparency gradient to an object. First, select the object.
  7. Next, open the Effects window (Window>Effects…) if it is not already open.
  8. Now, click on the “fx” at the bottom of the effects window and select “Gradient Feather”ID_Gradient_Feather-1
