InDesign 2.9 [image spanning frames]

“Placing an image that spans across frames”

  1. Begin with a new InDesign document. (File>New Document…)
  2. You will need to draw a series of frames (using one of the frame tools) or objects (using the pen tool).
  3. Once you have aligned your objects (See InDesign Tutorial 2.8), select the objects you want to show a single image behind. (Hold down shift and click on each object.)
  4. Next, select Object>Paths>Make Compound Path…ID_Make_Compound_Path
  5. You will notice the “Xs” in the middle of the frames change to be only one “x” that spans the frames that have been combined.
  6. Now, with your new compound path object selected, Navigate to File>Place and place an image into your document.ID_Compound_Path-1
