I came across this scene on a Sunday drive along Grizzly Peak Road in Berkeley during the Labor Day weekend. I decided to darken the foreground with the burn tool so that the contrast between light and dark would be more dramatic, and so that the focus of the photo is drawn more inwards towards the sunset. I also used tools such as curves, histogram, and pop to draw out the colors of the sky; which in reality were closer in tone to the edited image. Using the dodge tool, I lightened the distant bay to give it a warmer tone to act as a gradient from intense white sun to pitch black trees in the foreground.

  1. I love how you made the hues orange and yellow pop in the edited version. Also, giving it a higher contrast gave clearer detail to the clouds. Contrast on the hill makes me (viewer) focus on the light and the clouds instead of the hill. Beautiful composition and editing work. 🙂

  2. I really appreciate your professional photograph skill, it is very hard to take a beautiful picture like that! amazing
