Exercise 101 – Delci Smith

Bahrain World Trade Centre

Located in Manama, Bahrain, the Bahrain World Trade Centre includes two 50-story sail-shaped commercial towers. The structure promotes sustainable design, as its shape is meant to funnel wind through the gap to provide accelerated wind that passes through the turbines, thus generating electricity.

  1. That’s a really cool and environmentally friendly design maybe more buildings will use that in the future.

  2. When I first saw these buildings I immediately thought they looked like two daggers or perhaps swords. I guess that thought wasn’t completely wrong since sails due cut through the air. I like the fact that this building doesn’t just have a nice-looking design, but also a functional one. It is great how more and more buildings are starting to be designed to be sustainable and less ecologically impactful. I hope to see more buildings that generate their own energy in the future.
