Exercise 101 – Emily Esperias

The Museum of Islamic Art

The Museum of Islamic Art was designed by architect IM Pei. The building was is located in Doha, Qatar. The building is presented through the outside as a pyramid form using rectangular shape becoming smaller in size going up. The design was made for whoever enters the building can easily move forward and know what path to go. This gives easy circulation through out the building. As well as in the center of the building a hollow geometric skylight is located which gives a way of sunlight to come through the building.

  1. The overall design has a modern and minimalistic feel to it yet is also intricate with the different shapes. Being the museum of Islamic Art, I could only imagine how colorful and geometric the showcased art is on the inside; the simple colors and lines on outside contradicts it in a way.
