Exercise 101 – Nicolas Kekai

The Matsumura House (Remodel)

The Matsumura House is a complete facelift remodel of a house originally created by the prominent architect Ralph Haver and was made in Phoenix, Arizona which was the result of the endless practice drafts during his studies in the region. What brought my attention to the set piece was the simplistic and refined look to what seemed like an old fashion home. The Matsumura House had gone through one remodel, however the customer was dissatisfied and chose to remodel once more. The humble spirit of the home bursts through in its second renovation displaying its bones as well as pushing itself forward into the modern era of design.
