Renzo Piano is one of a number great contemporary architect. His works include the Shard, London, as well as The Whitney Museum, New York.

Possibly more recognizable, however, would be the California Academy of Sciences, which uses a green roof as insulation and irrigation systems, as well as a design feature that is able to distinguish the building from other buildings in the city, yet lend itself to its surroundings effortlessly.
