Exercise 101 – Stephanie Ornelas

This article describes five metrics every architect should be familiar with in order to design more sustainably. These five metrics include energy use intensity, daylighting, indoor water use intensity, embodied and operational carbon emissions, and view quality. Each of the five metrics improves the performance of the building, and can even improve the everyday tasks, and productivity for occupants of the building.

  1. This is such a great, concrete resource for starting to think more critically about how buildings can be sustainable. I especially appreciate the focus on the impact on occupants. This is one where I actually took the time to click the article to read it all. Thanks!
