Exercise 101 – Underwater Restaurant

This restaurant in Norway by Snohetta is super interesting not only because of its form, but it's location is super unique. It's located at the southern most part of Norway where it has looked like it just fell into the ocean. However, it did not fall, the building is partly submerged in the water! As the farthest wall in the building is completely under water and all glass, it gives the restaurant a very serene atmosphere.

  1. It looks like almost a part of the scenery, almost hidden which adds to the design of the building. I also like the idea of part of it being underwater. It gives it some mystery while incorporating its surrounding.

  2. It is very interesting how the structure was designed to fuse with its surroundings, and how it incorporates both the land and sea in its design.

  3. A lot of work has gone into the design of the restaurant not just the outside but also on the inside. I think being underwater not only works well in the day but also at night.
