Exercise 103 – Analyzing Photos – Ethan Svuba

This image is in black and white to help accentuate the composition and feeling of the environment in the image. It tells a story by nature of its contents through diagonal movement into the right side of the frame/town. Its major components are spread out nicely but overlap in certain areas creating depth and layers throughout the scene. The aqueduct on the left and the ray of light on the right frame the town and help to lead the eye into the frame and detail in the buildings. If a shallow depth of field were used it would not have the same effect.

  1. Nice choice, I like how the rule of thirds has a centre of spatial depth. It kind of transports the viewer into the picture.
