Exercise 103 – Analyzing Photos – Thomas Black

I thinks this photo is excellent because the use of the rule of thirds and the diagonal composition ultimately creates an ethereal image. Since there was a smaller aperture, the viewer is able to see the texture of the sand on the voluptuous dune. The diagonal characteristic of the sand dune's edge evokes this feeling of curiosity as to whats on the other side.

  1. I think the photo uses the rule of thirds in that the highest peak of the dune is about a third of the way up and from the right. I wanna say that the photo has overlapping layers as the path of the right leads to the peak of the dune, which leads to the dune continuing behind it, then to the milky way in the back.
