Exercise 103 — Esther Ho

This image was taken in Mexico's Colima Volcano on December 13, 2015 by Sergio Tapiro Velasco, and this is the 2017 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year Contest. It is named "The Power of Nature", and it is clearly telling us how powerful the nature is and how negligible humans are. The volcano was set a the center which makes the image looks symmetrical, and because of the nature effect, it looks like it has been overlapped in multiple layers but in fact it doesn't. Also, I love how clear the background is, so the object in the front can stand out more. I also like the choice of color since the whole image was just basically in dark color but with that red/ orange lava, it could be a highlight of this image too.

  1. This is a really cool picture, I like how the photo not only shows a volcanic eruption but a lightning strike, seems like a really rare occurrence
