This is a photograph taken by David Odisho for the 2019 National Geographic photo travel contest, capturing the disappearing terrain on Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County. Odisho keeps the tree-line in the bottom third of the image to detail the vastness of the fog blanketing the world below. The whole image is in focus, meaning a smaller aperture was most likely used, allowing less light into the camera. It was probably taken either at sunrise or sunset because of the presence of fog and the uneven lighting on both the fog and trees. It was taken with a long shutter speed of several seconds to blur the fog rolling over the mountains.
