- Open the Ultimaker Cura software on your computer. If you are working on your own computer, you can download Cura here.
- Navigate to Preferences>Configure Cura...
- Select Printers from the list on the left and then click the Add button. Select "Type A Machines Series 1" (See below for the ET labs machines) [Premium Content - Login] [Membership Options][Premium Content - Login] [Membership Options]
- Once you have selected the Type A Machines 3D printer, click "Add Printer" and confirm it is selected as the printer (should be highlighted in Blue)[Premium Content - Login] [Membership Options]
- Navigate to File>Open Files... and select your .stl file. Your model should appear in the 3D printable space (build envelope) inside Cura.
- You can move your object within the build envelope if you wish by clicking on it and dragging it.
- In the right column choose custom setup and enter the values shown below.
- Type A Machines:
- Layer Height: 0.2 mm [Premium Content - Login] [Membership Options]
- Shell - Wall Thickness: 1.5 mm
- Shell - Top/Bottom Thickness: 1.5 mm
- Z Seam Alignment: Sharpest Corner [Premium Content - Login] [Membership Options]
- Infill Density: 10%
- Infill Pattern: Octet [Premium Content - Login] [Membership Options]
- Printing Temperature: 220
- Enable Retraction (check box) [Premium Content - Login] [Membership Options]
- Speed: 60
- Infill Speed: 80
- Wall Speed: 60 [Premium Content - Login] [Membership Options]
- Z Hop When Retracted (check box) [Premium Content - Login] [Membership Options]
- Generate Support (check box)
- Support Placement: Everywhere [Premium Content - Login] [Membership Options]
- Build Plate Adhesion Type: Brim [Premium Content - Login] [Membership Options]
- Click the Prepare button. Cura will slice your model and give an approximate time to print.
- Click the Save to File button to save your gcode file for 3D printing.
- Go to the lab to perform the 3D print. Follow Physical Modeling 6.6 [Type A - 3D Printing].
